Journal of Foundations in Childhood Education and Development (JOFCED)

The Journal of Foundations in Childhood Education and Development (JOFCED) welcomes original scholarly contributions that focus on children from birth to 12 years. The journal aims to publish high-quality research that advances knowledge, theory, and practice in early and middle childhood education and development.

 

  1. Scope of the Journal

JOFCED publishes research articles, conceptual papers, review papers, and practice-based studies in the following areas (but not limited to):

  • Early and middle childhood education (birth–12 years)
  • Cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development
  • Pedagogical approaches and classroom practices
  • Curriculum and assessment in childhood education
  • Play-based and inquiry-based learning
  • Parental involvement and family studies
  • Inclusive education and special needs in early years
  • Educational technology in childhood learning
  • Teacher education and professional development
  • Cross-cultural perspectives in child development
  • Policy and innovation in childhood education

 

  1. Types of Articles Accepted

JOFCED considers the following categories of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles: Empirical studies that contribute new insights into theory, policy, or practice.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews, including systematic reviews, bibliometric analyses, and meta-analyses on topics related to childhood education and development.
  • Theoretical or Conceptual Papers: Papers that develop new models or frameworks in early childhood education.
  • Practice and Case Studies: Reports or reflections on practical applications, programs, or interventions in child development or classroom practices.

 

  1. Manuscript Preparation

Language: Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise English.

Length:

  • Research articles: 4,000–7,000 words
  • Review articles: 5,000–8,000 words
  • Short papers or practice reports: 2,000–4,000 words
  • Book reviews: up to 1,500 words

Structure:

  • Title Page (title, authors’ full names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, and corresponding author’s email)
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (3–6 keywords)
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology
  • Results/Findings
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion and Implications
  • References (APA 7th Edition)

Formatting:

  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
  • Number all pages consecutively.
  • All tables and figures should be clearly labeled and embedded in the text.

 

  1. Referencing Style

Follow the APA 7th Edition referencing style strictly. Examples:

  • Book:
    Piaget, J. (1972). The psychology of the child. Basic Books.
  • Journal article:

Vygotsky, L. S. (1978). Interaction between learning and development. Readings on the Development of Children, 23(3), 34–41.

 

  1. Submission Process

Authors should submit manuscripts electronically through the journal’s online submission portal.
All submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.

 

  1. Peer Review Policy

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Each paper is reviewed by at least two experts in the field. The editorial team ensures fairness, confidentiality, and objectivity throughout the process.

 

  1. Publication Frequency

The Journal of Foundations in Childhood Education and Development (JOFCED) is published three times a year (Quarterly) — March, July, and November.

 

  1. Article Processing Charges (APC)

To ensure open access to all published articles and to cover the cost of editorial management, peer review, production, and online hosting, the Journal of Foundations in Childhood Education and Development (JOFCED) requires authors to pay a modest Article Processing Charge (APC) upon acceptance of their manuscript.

The APC varies by the author’s region as follows:

Notes:

  • There are no submission fees; payment is only required after a manuscript has been accepted for publication.
  • APCs cover the costs of online publication and long-term digital archiving.
  • Authors experiencing financial constraints may apply for a partial or full waiver, subject to editorial board approval.
  • Payment instructions will be provided to corresponding authors after acceptance.

 

  1. Copyright and Open Access Policy

All articles published in JOFCED are open access under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license. This means authors retain copyright, and others may share, adapt, and build upon their work provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s).

  1. Ethical Considerations
  • Authors must ensure their manuscripts are original and free of plagiarism.
  • Proper ethical approval must be obtained for studies involving human participants, particularly children.
  • Conflicts of interest must be disclosed in the manuscript.
